 For those who may not recall, Private Dancer was recorded in just two weeks back in May 1984—a period that marked Tina Turner’s triumphant return after overcoming personal hardships, including leaving an abusive relationship with her former musical partner and husband, Ike Turner. Despite initial hesitations from her label, the album soared to massive success, and it gave us the unforgettable No. 1 hit “What’s Love Got to Do With It.”

Nearly two years after her death, this re-release serves as a soulful celebration of her legacy. Interestingly, “Hot For You Baby” had also been recorded by Australian singer John Paul Young (best known for the disco classic “Love Is In The Air”), though his version never captured the magic that only Tina could deliver.

The 40th Anniversary Edition of Private Dancer comes in multiple configurations—a 5-CD/Blu-ray set featuring live performances from a memorable two-night stint at NEC Birmingham (where legends like David Bowie and Bryan Adams joined Tina on stage), a 2-CD set, a 1-LP Pearl vinyl, and even a 1-LP picture disc. Each format is packed with exclusive content, including five upgraded music videos that transport us back to the era when Tina redefined the sound of soul and rock.
